Tamar is a Trademark and Intellectual Property Attorney at ADVENT. She attended college at Michigan State University, initially starting as a Computer Science major and eventually switching to an Interdisciplinary Humanities major, focused on History, Music and Computer Science for a well-rounded liberal arts education. She later attended Michigan State University College of Law. That is where she discovered her passion for intellectual property law which combines her love of the technical with the creative. Along with her JD, Tamar completed a concentration in Intellectual Property and Communications Law.

After passing the Illinois bar she moved to Chicago and started to attend an LL.M. program in Intellectual Property Law at The John Marshall Law School. While living in Chicago she clerked for a trademark attorney, worked for a company that provided IP valuation, expert testimony, and risk management services, and took and passed the Patent Bar on the first try. She started working part-time with a virtual law firm that allowed her to retain her own clientele and continued doing so for over a decade. When that firm closed, she moved her trademark practice to Advent. Tamar splits her law practice and also is active as lenders counsel for commercial real estate transactions.

In 2009, Tamar moved to Omaha to work as claims counsel for the nation’s largest title insurance company but continued to do trademark work on the side. She met her husband, an Air Force officer, and after 2 years in Omaha moved to California. She passed the California bar and continued to work for the same company in a different division, as staff attorney for a non-judicial foreclosure trustee. After her first child was born, Tamar went back to her first love of Intellectual Property and continued to work part-time in trademark law. She also took several freelance legal writing jobs, including writing state-specific trademark guides for LexisNexis’s Practice Advisor. Additionally, she served as adjunct faculty for the Art Institute of California – Sacramento and was an instructor at Hacker Lab. Five-and-a-half years after arriving in sunny California, military life called again, and Tamar and her family returned to Omaha where her second child was born. She applied to the Nebraska Bar through the newly passed military spouse admission rule and is very much enjoying “The Good Life” in Omaha the second time around!

In her spare time, Tamar enjoys performing choral music and has sung with the Omaha Symphony, Omaha Symphonic Chorus, the Sacramento Choral Society and Orchestra, MasterSingers Omaha, and the Chicago Bar Association Chorus. She is also a Certified Passenger Safety Technician (CPST), also known as a car seat tech, and enjoys helping parents and caregivers keep their kids safe in the car!
